Missing Man’s Body Found In East St. Louis Pond

EAST ST. LOUIS, IL (KTVI) – A search for a missing East St. Louis man turned up a body in Jones Park’s pond.  Police confirmed Tuesday that the body found in the pond was that of Dewey Shy who was reported missing on November 17.

Dewey’s uncle, Lasell Shy, reported the man missing.  He says Dewey was schizophrenic and had been without his medication for several days.  The uncle became especially worried when Dewey failed to pick up his disability check.

St. Clair County sent its command post to the search near Dewey’s apartment at 29th and Waverly.  Just to the South, two men walking through the park found the man in the pond.
