ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) –  The Missouri Department of Transportation dropped the westbound lanes of the Blanchette Tuesday morning as part of the effort to reconstruct the bridge.

Hundreds of people came to the riverfront to watch the blast.  In fact, MoDOT had to delay the blast for several minutes while they moved people further away from the blast site.

Traffic was stopped on both sides while the blast happened.  MoDOT now has to clean up the debris.
