Step Father Accused Of Burning 30% Of Toddler

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - 3-year-old Kennedy Harris is in critical condition after the person who was supposed to care for her is accused of burning 30 percent of her body.

According to Bel-Ridge police the toddler was found unresponsive inside of the family`s Bel-Ridge home. She suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns and at some point the little girl was under water.

Police say the childs new step father Lawence Johnson allegedly burned his daughter.  According prosecutors documents Johnson submurged the child's lower body into scalding hot water.

Lawrence Johnson is charged with one count of felony child abuse. Harris says he has no answers for why this happened.

Johnson is being held on a $75,000 cash only bond. There could be more charges in the case. Johnson is currently being held at the St. Louis Justice Center.
