SLU Administrator Resigns In Wake Of Protests

MIDTOWN ST. LOUIS(KTVI)-The Saint Louis University administrator who ignited a firestorm of protest is out. Dr. Manoj Patankar, vice president of academic affairs, has submitted his resignation. He ignited a backlash from staff after suggesting big changes to faculty evaluations and teacher tenure. It ultimately lead to votes of no confidence in SLU president Father Lawrence Biondi and Dr. Patankar by student and faulty groups at the school.

The resignation was accepted by Father Biondi, effective at the end of the Fall Semester. Dr. Patanker will remain a a faculty member at the Parks College of Engineering, Aviation, and Technology.

The SLU board also announced new procedures to give faculty and students greater access to the trustee board to air their complaints. It also reaffirmed its support for Father Biondi and okayed a new budget that includes raises for employees.
