Hawaii Senator Dies Of Respiratory Complications

WASHINGTON (KTVI)- Senator Daniel K. Inouye of Hawaii has died of respiratory complications. His office released the news Monday afternoon. The Senate Appropriations Chairman had been hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. since Dec. 9.
Inouye was 88 years old. The decorated World War II veteran was elected to his ninth consecutive term in 2010.
Inouye was the most senior senator in the chamber and the president pro tempore, a constitutional office that made him third in line for the presidency.
