THE WEATHER DISCO:

THE WEEK AHEAD IS ALL ABOUT WINTER…TWO STORMS N PLAY AND IF WE LOOK AT THE NEXT 10 DAYS…LETS THINK 3 STORMS IN PLAY…ALL SOUTHERN STORMS…ALL FORECASTING FUN…AND COLD AIR IS IN PLACE…THIS COULD BE A SNOW BUNNIES DREAM COME TRUE. TIME FRAME…TUESDAY NIGHT/EARL WEDNESDAY MORNING…SNOW…TIME FRAME TWO…FRIDAY/FRIDAY NIGHT…SNOW. LETS FORGET ABOUT STORM TWO AT THIS POINT…OTHER THAN IT IS ON THE TABLE. STORM ONE..CLASSIC SOUTHERN STORM WITH IMPRESSIVE DEVELOPMENT…COLD AIR DROPPING IN AROUND LARGE ARCTIC HIGH PRESSURE…IT DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS…DYNAMICS EXCELLENT…GULF IS OPEN…ALL FOCUS ON THE DYNAMICS SHIFTING A LITTLE NORTH. THIS WILL BE AN ALL SNOW EVENT…FOR ABOUT 7 TO 10 HOURS…TUESDAY NIGHT…HEAVIEST…STL AND POINTS SOUTH AND EAST…AND THERE COULD BE…HOLD YOUR BREATH…SOME THUNDER AND LIGHTNING COMING INTO PLAY…ESPECIALLY SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST OF METRO STL…AMOUS ARE CERTAINLY IN QUESTION AT THIS POINT…BUT THINKING SEVERAL INCHES POSSIBLE IN THE STL AREA AND A FOOT PLUS TO THE SOUTH AND EAST…THINK 50-60 MILES SOUTH AND EAST OF METRO STL…BUT AGAIN…THIS IS EARLY..AND IF THINGS KEEP SHIFTING A LITTLE MORE NORTH…THAN NUMBER WILL BE GOING UP…TUESDAY NIGHT/WEDNESDAY MORNING WILL BE INTERESTING…STAY ALERT…STAY UP TO DATE.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! SMILS SNOW BUNNIES..SMILES

IF THIS PANS OUT..IT WILL BE A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF THE POWER OF THREE THAT I HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT THE LAST WEEK…THE POWER OF 3…THIS WAS A SEQUENCE OF WEATHER EVENTS I LEARNED ABOUT FOLLOWING NOR’EASTER’S GROWING UP AND WATCHING DON KENT, NORM MCDONALD AND JOHN GHIORSE…THEN FINE TURNED THE CONCEPT WHILE ON GOOD MORNING AMERICA AND WBZ-TV…BUT ITS A CONCEPT THAT WORKS WELL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NATION. THE BASIC IDEA IS THAT LARGE STORM SYSTEM COME IN 3’S…THERE MAY BE SMALL IMPULSE INBETWEEN THE THREE…BUT THE FOCUS IS ON THE LARGE STORMS..TYPICALLY IN A 10 TO 12 DAY TIME PERIOD. THE TRACKS ARE KEY, AS ALWAYS, BUT EACH TRACK SHOULD GET FURTHER SOUTH AS THE SNOW FIELD’S INCREASE AND PAVE THE HIGHWAY FOR COLDER AIR PUSHING DEEPER TO THE SOUTH…THATS THE QUICK AND DIRTY IDEA. LIKE EVERYTHING IN WEATHER…IT DOES NOT WORK ALL THE TIME…BUT HAS A GREAT TRACK RECORD. JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT
