ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- The snow will fly Christmas night into Wednesday morning for cities along and south of Interstate 44 in MO and south and east of Interstate 70 in IL. Strong winds on the backside of this storm could mean blizzard like conditions for southern Missouri and Illinois.

Just how much snow? Snowfall accumulations of 4"-7" are expected along and south of a Lesterville, MO to Chester, IL to Salem, IL line. Snow totals quickly drop back north and west of the line with maybe an inch possible in metro St. Louis.

The storm quickly exits on Wednesday with some clearing in the afternoon. Skies will clear a bit in the afternoon, but it will be very windy and cold.
