(KTVI) – When it’s time to take down that Christmas tree, you can make several choices on how to dispose of it. Some municipalities turn trees into mulch, others use some for fish habitats in bodies of water.
Always remember to prepare your tree fro recycling:
- Remove ornaments, tinsel, lights and tree stand.
- Do not put the tree in a plastic bag or cover it.
- Wreaths and pine roping are not accepted at most sites.
Here are some of the St. Louis area locations for recycling your tree.
St. Louis County
The county recommends using your waste hauling company to dispose of your tree, just as you would any other yard waste. Some municipalities have special areas for Christmas trees.
