Happy Birthday, Raja

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – There’s a big party planned Thursday at the Saint Louis Zoo and you’re invited. It’s Raja’s 20th birthday. He’s the first Asian elephant born at the zoo.

When he was born, he weighed just 275 lbs. Now in the prime of his life, he tops 10,000 pounds. Raja has fathered three other elephants, all girls. A fourth elephant is due this Spring.

The birthday party is at 11 a.m. at the zoo.  Raja will receive a giant birthday cake to stomp on and presents filled with some of his favorite things, such as cereal, melons, bananas and popcorn.
