Purdue Beats Illini for 8th Consecutive Time, 68-61

The Fighting Illini opened their Big Ten schedule on Wednesday night with a thud. Illinois lost to Purdue for the eighth consecutive time, 68-61 in West Lafayette, Indiana. Brandon Paul battled foul trouble throughout the game, but finished with a team leading 15 points. His three pointer cut a late Purdue lead to 61-58. But the Boilermakers got key baskets from Terone Johnson and D.J. Byrd to wrap up the win. Johnson scored a career high 25 points in the win. The loss drops the 11th ranked Illini’s season record to 13-2.

The Illini return to Big Ten action this coming Saturday afternoon when they host eighth ranked Ohio State at 1:15 PM in Champaign, IL.
