ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – A new beer from Budweiser called, “Black Crown” is coming to St. Louis before it makes it’s nation wide debut. The new beer will hit store shelves on January 21. It will be announced during a Super Bowl ad on February 3.
According to Anheuser Busch Ibev the new recipe features more body, color and hop character than normal Budweiser. It also contains more alcohol. Black Crown has 6 percent compared to Budweiser’s 5 percent content. The beer is a blend of two-row caramel malt and four types of domestic hops. Just like Budweiser the new brew is finished on a bed of Beechwood chips.
This beer comes from a winning recipe from a beer competition called, Project 12. It was the largest focus group ever conducted in Budweiser’s history. Consumers gave feedback on six beers offered by the brewery.
