ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis police are looking for a man who broke into a south St. Louis Subway. The restaurant has been hit before. It happened in the shopping center at Chippewa and South Kingshighway.
Employees ran from an alleged robbery suspect Monday in the same Subway. The store was empty Thursday night, but a manager came in to clean up the broken glass.
In the surveillance video, you can see someone looking inside the windows just before 2:15 a.m. and just before he throws a metal disk through the glass door.
He jumped right over the counter and headed for the cash register drawer. Managers say he yanked out the drawer, breaking the computer cable linked to the receipt printer and ran right out.
The manager met city police at the restaurant. He looked over the broken glass on the ground. The manager says this may be the same man that broke into other local restaurants.
At 6:30 am Friday, city police responded to a burglar alarm sounding at the El Toro Mexican Restaurant, right across Chippewa from the Subway that was hit just a few hours before. The suspect broke out the glass on one of three doors leading into the restaurant’s dining room.
Then around 7:00am, police got a call from the Jiffy Lube on South Kingshighway. It had also been broken in to.
A fourth business also reported a break-in. A Chinese restaurant on Southwest was broken in to sometime between 10:00pm Thursday and 8:00am Friday.
Police are not sure if any or all of these robberies are related.
