ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) –Police in St. Louis’ Central West End are on the lookout for a man trying to expose himself to unsuspecting women. Its unclear how many incidents there have been, but they obtained a photo of his car after he flashed a woman on Maryland Avenue earlier this week.
The Central West End Security Initiative sent out an email Friday warning merchants to be on the lookout for a green, 90’s vintage Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am. The driver is described as a heavy set black male in his 30’s.
Businesses in the area are annoyed as much as anything, but want to see the man caught quickly. Places like the Le Petit Spa, with a predominantly female clientele, see it as a problem.
“A lot of women and it gets dark early now,” Orlena Epps said of the situation. “So we don’t want anything to hinder our business, and them not coming to the area because of this.”
Others who work in the area have different views.
“When things like that happen it definitely kind of takes away your sense of security,” Rachel Krichoff.
“Even someone just like, ‘Hey, come up to my car,’ you definitely like think twice and it makes you feel a little unsafe.”
Dawn Wright just laughs.
“I still feel like it’s a pretty safe place, and flasher, hopefully he gets help. I don’t feel too threatened by a flasher.”
If you have any information on the suspect, contact Crimestoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).
