(KTVI) - A move that was expected is now official. The Blues have signed General Manager Doug Armstrong to a 5-year contract extension that will keep him with the franchise through at least 2018.
Armstrong is the reigning NHL GM of the year, and last season oversaw the Blues first Central Division title since 2000, as well as a first round playoff victory over the Sharks.
Armstrong has made some high profile moves in his two years as GM, bringing on Head Coach Ken Hitchcock, trading away number one overall pick Erik Johnson, trading for Yaroslav Halak and signing Brian Elliott, who has flourished in St. Louis.
FOX 2's Charlie Marlow has the story from the Scottrade Center.
