Police: Woman Found Dead In House Fire Was Stabbed
(KTVI) – The St. Louis City medical examiner says a woman who was found dead in her home during a fire Wednesday morning was stabbed. And that’s what caused her death.
Authorities began investigating Brinda Babcock’s death shortly after the fire in her home in the 4000 block of Giles. The home had several working smoke detectors and fire investigators wondered why Babcock, 49, did not leave the home.

St. Louis Fire Captain Dan Sutter said a witness called 911 around 12:30 a.m. The caller reported seeing smoke. Before crews got to the house on Giles Avenue near Liermann Avenue, two neighbors headed for the home`s side door.
Crews quickly knocked down what looked like a minor blaze in the single-family brick home.
St. Louis City homicide investigators are working the case.
