ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – An alleged home invader, who police say broke into the garage of a south St. Louis home, was stabbed to death by one of the people who lives there.
This happened around midnight Thursday near Osceola and South Broadway.
Investigators say the suspect was killed with his own weapon. Police say the male suspect, armed with a knife, kicked in the side door of the garage, which is detached from the home.
Police say a 38-year-old man was in the garage with his 23-year-old girlfriend. They both live at the home.
Investigators say somehow the 38-year-old man wrestled the knife away from the suspect and then stabbed him repeatedly.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this point, police do not have an identity on the dead suspect – he’s listed as a John Doe.
Police say they have no indication of any relationship between the three people involved.
Nobody else was hurt.
The 38-year-old man who stabbed the suspect was taken to homicide for questioning. We’re told that is standard procedure.
