Parent Uses Cell Phone To Clock Drivers In School Zone
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– A concerned parent takes matters into her own hands. One mother is using her cell phone to clock drivers speeding through a work zone located inside her child’s school zone.
In less than one hour, several drivers passed through the work and school zone driving nearly 20MPH over the posted 25MPH school zone speed limit.
One truck drove literally through the work zone barriers, while several others disregarded the correct direction in the work zone.
This was just a small sample of the many reasons why Beth Heinkel, the mother of a kindergarten student at the school across the street, stood outside the school and work zone with a radar app on her cell phone clocking the speeds of wreckless drivers.
Beth fears for the safety of the workers and the students at St. Raphael the Archangel, because of the level of inattentiveness she has seen out of most drivers.
Kim Vangel, the school’s principal, was happy to see someone taking initiative over something that has been a longtime threat to the students’ safety.
Principal Vangel also said she was pleased to see a parent showing her concern for the safety of the students at St. Raphael the Archangel.
She hopes that drivers on Jamieson will pay more attention to the speed limit outside their school once this story is seen.
