EUREKA, MO (KTVI) - School security is the focus of a meeting Thursday morning Eureka. Leaders of area school districts will meet with law officers about keeping campuses safe.
The meeting starts at 9 a.m. at the Rockwood Administrative Annex just off Highway 109.
The Safe Schools Partnership and St. Louis County Police are putting on the event.
This is second recent safe schools meeting.
Another took place back on December 20th in Maryland Heights.
The Safe Schools Partnership is collaboration between local schools, police and other agencies. The goal- keeping kids safe in school.
The main question at these meetings- whether school districts want to see any changes regarding security protocols in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy in Connecticut.
At the first meeting, County Police Chief Tim Fitch brought up the idea which he supports of having armed school personnel with proper police training on campuses.
But that idea was basically rejected by area school leaders.
Today`s meeting is a follow-up to that first meeting in Maryland Heights.
The meeting itself is not open.
But we should find out what changes, if any, came out of the meeting after it`s over.
