Washington University Aids In Fighting Child Malnutrition
(KTVI) – Minutes ago, results were released on a new study involving a Washington University pediatrician who’s fighting severe malnutrition in children under five years old.
The New England Journal of Medicine report involves Dr. Mark Manary, who’s currently working in Malawi.
Manary studied using peanut butter based food for severe malnutrition with an antibiotic added.
He found that adding an antibiotic reduces child mortality up to 44 percent. He’s calling this a game-changer for severely malnourished kids.
The antibiotics help them get over bacterial infections and gives them time to recover with the peanut butter nutrition.
