Red Wings beat Blues 5-3, Ending Note’s Winning Streak

Detroit Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead the Wings over the Blues 5-3 on Friday night in Detroit. The Blues had won four games in a row. Zetterberg scored the game’s first two goals to give the Red Wings an early lead. But the Blues answered back with three consecutive goals from Kevin Shattenkirk, Matt D’Agostini and Patrik Berglund. The Red Wings tied the game in the third period on Joanthan Ericsson’s first goal of the season. The game turned for good when Blues captain David Backes was given a five minute penalty for elbowing Detroit’s Kent Huskins, although replays showed Backes didn’t elobw Huskins. The Wings then scored on that five minute power play on Pavel Datsyuk’s goal to give them a 4-3 lead.
