(KTVI) – An 1865 baseball card was discovered in rural Maine during a yard sale and will later go up for auction. The Library of Congress claims it’s the first dated baseball card. The card features the Brooklyn Athletics’ nine-person team.
Unlike today’s baseball cards, this card is a photograph of the nine players and manager mounted on a card.
The true value is impossible to determine but is expected to bring in $50,000-$500,000.
The highest-selling baseball card was a 1909 Honus Wagner card for $2.8 million in 2007.
