O'FALLON, MO (KTVI) - O'Fallon, Mo police are investigating the suspicious death of a woman and looking for a 'person of interest.'
It happened in the Runny Meade Mobile Home Park. Authorities say the body of a 55-year-old woman was found just after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday in her home on Downing Street. Authorities had been asked to check the well-being of the woman and found her dead of an apparent gunshot wound.
Neighbor Sharon Moore says they saw the man who lives inside of the mobile home earlier in the day but he has not been seen since.
“At about 5 o’clock he called the cops they couldn’t get a response so they broke down the door that’s when they found her,” said Moore.
Moore who has lived in the area for more than 10 years also says the victim who is not from the area may have been in the process of selling a truck and at some point things went terribly wrong. She says it’s a shocking chain of events in an otherwise quiet neighborhood.
“Yea she came up with a friend of hers and I don’t know what happened. I’m upset that this would happen in here, I just can’t believe it,” said Moore.
The victim's name has not been released yet.
Homicide investigators are currently looking into several leads but say they are looking for a person of interest. They do not believe the act was random.
Police are asking anyone with information to give them a call at 636-240-3200.
