EAST ST. LOUIS, IL (KTVI) - Investigators in the Metro East are looking into how the body of a 29-year-old woman ended up in the bushes of an East St. Louis street.
The body was found around 7 a.m. on 15th near Belmont and Ohio. Now investigators are looking for who's responsible.
Investigators say the 29-year-old white female was shot once in the face. Neighbors found the body and called it in.
Nina Forbes grew up in the area and says a big problem with the crime is that the coverage of woods and burned out buildings breeds opportunities for crime. Police say the body had not been in the area for long. There are also reports that the victim was a streetwalker.
"It's quiet everybody keeps to themselves and to find a dead body right at your doorstep does not seem right to me because now they are turning our neighborhood into a dumping ground. They dump trash now they are dumping bodies," said Forbes
