ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – An East St. Louis man died after being shot at a Downtown St. Louis Metrolink station late Tuesday night.
St. Louis City Police said they shut down the Arch-Laclede’s Metrolink stop for almost two hours. They were looking for anything that would lead them to a suspect.
Officers said they rushed to the stop just after 11:30 p.m. and found a Charles Campbell, 33, of East St. Louis, lying on the train platform. He had been shot in the chest and groin and died at the scene.
Investigators said the victim was trying to catch a train to Illinois when another man walked up, started arguing with the victim, and then opened fire.
Police said the suspect then ran to a car in the parking lot and just drove away, leaving the victim to die on the platform.
While officers talked to witnesses at the stop, Metro Transit bussed other passengers around the Arch-Laclede’s Station.
City police are still looking for the gunman. So, if you know anything about this shooting, they want to hear from you. Call Crimestoppers at (866) 371-TIPS (8477). You can also leave a tip online at https://www.tipsubmit.com/WebTips.aspx?AgencyID=448.
