Protesting Miners Arrest At Peabdoy Energy

ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – Ten protesting miners were arrested Wednesday morning at Peabody Energy, in downtown St. Louis.  This was the third protest by miners and activist at the energy company.  The miners are part of the United Mine Workers of America and they fear Peabody is going to use the bankruptcy courts to shed its liability of paying future retirement benefits, from its corporate spin off company, Patriot Coal.

Patriot Coal filed for bankruptcy in July of 2012.  Peabody Energy spun off the company in 2007.
