No Coolers Allowed At 2013 Dogtown St. Patrick’s Day Parade
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-No coolers will be allowed at the 2013 Ancient Order of Hibernians St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dogtown. The decision was made by the Dogtown Business Merchants Association and the Ancient Order of Hibernians, in partnership with the Clayton Tamm Community Association,
Over the last several years, neighbors have complained about the trash created on parade day along with the underage drinking and “binge” drinking that tends to go on. Organizers hope the new rule will cut down on all of that.
The Dogtown parade had been one of the last big St. Louis events where coolers were still allowed.
The cooler ban will be enforced at various checkpoints within one block of Tamm Ave on March, 17. Those living within these checkpoints will still be permitted to have coolers. The ban is for coolers entering the area by pedestrians. Checkpoints will be operated by professional security personnel, including off-duty Saint Louis Metropolitan Police officers.
Street vendors and bars will be selling drinks throughout the event. Street vendor sales stop at 6:00pm. Bars will close at 8:00 p.m.
The Dogtown St. Patrick’s Day parade steps off at 12:30 at Tamm at Oakland Avenues and travels south to Manchester.
