Stranded Passengers Sleep at Lambert; Flights Resume Friday
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – It could be a long, chaotic day at Lambert Airport as many people who had their flights cancelled because of the storm try to get where they are going.
The airport was open Friday morning but there were still a lot of cancelled and delayed flights.
Passengers stuck at Lambert slept in the Main Terminal overnight. Lambert officials say about 150 travelers spent the night at the airport.
Crews worked through the night to make sure the runways were clear and operational. Officials say well over 300 flights were cancelled Thursday. Many of the carriers including American, United, U.S. Airways, and Cape Air cancelled all of their remaining flights starting around noon Thursday until 8:00 a.m. Friday.
Delta and Frontier did continue some operations during the storm.
