SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, IL (KTVI)-- Big automatic federal budget cuts, called the sequester, arrive Friday unless Congress and the president compromise.

A pair of area lawmakers toured Scott Air Force Base Monday.

With warnings about what will happen when $84 billion worth of across-the-board budget cuts automatically kick in on Friday.

For example, several thousand civilian workers at SAFB will only be worked four days a week under the cuts.

The Obama administration says it's not just the military.

Cuts in Missouri will force 1,200 children out of the head start program and will reduce federal education aid to Missouri by $12 million.
