ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Some beer drinkers are accusing AB InBev of watering down their favorite brews. Now, the largest alcohol company in the world is facing a federal lawsuit.

Customers in several states have filed suit, but the accusations started within the company.  Some AB InBev employees, including some high-level plant workers, say the production line has equipment that can test beers for alcohol content to within one one-hundreth of a percent.

But after Anheuser-Busch merged with InBev in 2008, employees say management ordered them to add more water to the beers.  They say the alcohol content on the labels stayed the same and so did the prices.

Now customers in California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and other states are suing.

InBev is a Belgian company but Anheuser-Busch is still based in St. Louis. Lawyers for the customers say they want class-action status for the suit.
