I caught this shot of a sharp line of clouds rolling in against the backdrop of a very intensely blue sky on the morning of May 7, 2013. I just thought the distinct sharp lines of the clouds were pretty cool. I think these would be Altocumulus clouds if I retain enough of my high school meteorology from 30 years ago.

Hello I am Scott Turner. My wife Beth, Son Nick, and myself decided to use the ice accumulated from the snow plows after plowing our street, leaving large chunks of ice on our driveway and yard...so We decided to build a snow fortress. I am a mechanical engineer and so felt that while having fun I could also teach my son a little about engineering...so while building the fortress I introduced him to several engineering ideas that were used hundreds of years ago in order to build walls that could reach astounding heights....so we used flying buttresses.... on a smaller scale.....

Vandalism and total destruction of political signs of the first true opposition in many years for Nameoki Township - the vandalism spread throughout several jurisdictions, Madison, State Park, Granite City, and Pontoon Beach. The Pontoon Beach police do have suspects in custody, but that is all we know at this time.

This was taken in our front yard in Florissant. Just the amount of snow staying on the tree was just awsome. Unlike other pine trees, the bluespruce can handle the weight of 12 inches of heavy snow. Hope you enjoy this picture as much as we have.

A baby squirell was hurt in our yard by a big dog. We took it in and nursed it back to health . We named him casper and he stayed inside with us for four months. When we thought he was ready we would open the screen door and let hime come and go as he pleased until he was ready to stay outside for good. This was last year. This picture was taken in the small town of modoc IL

I am a former resident of Bloomsdale, MO, but I am now living in Pelican Rapids, MN. All of my family and friends still reside in the St, Louis and surrounding areas. I would like to submit a photo of real snow since all my family and friends seem to be whining about the recent snowfall there yesterday. This is a picture taken on 03/2/13on of my husband, who is 6’ 1” on top of an 8 foot snow drift in our yard near the barn. Currently this winter we have received a total of 51 inches of snow and currently it has packed down to about 40 inches which is what we currently have in our yard and surrounding areas, with snow drifts of 7 to 8 feet. Sincerely, Deborah Dunham

What better day to share this than Opening Day! Feb 25th in Jupiter FL at Cardinals Spring Training against the Astros. I was asked to participate in a "contest" on top of the Cardinals Dugout in the 5th inning. The whole thing was a ploy and my boyfriend asked me to marry him instead!

I asked some of the Fox 2 News cast if they would take a picture with my rally squirel and they did, Thank you Fox 2.

Storm clouds in Wright City
-
The day of the recent storm (two days ago?) while watching the weather portion of your broadcast predicting a storm with potential for hail, we heard a thump on the roof and then something trickle down and bounce off onto our backyard lawn. I rushed outside, saw no one playing baseball, heard no airplane or helicopter, and was unable to determine it's source. Soon on tv there were images of golfball sized hail. My wife and I laughed that we had a baseball sized baseball hit the roof. Today, our neighbor confessed his son had hit the ball onto the roof but was too scared to tell us.

Since my Employer wouldn't let me grow a playoff beard...I couldn't let my brother (& roomate) who is a Minnesota Wild Fan be the only one in the house who could....So I gladly opted to be the first one to mow the yard this year. As it continues to grow and we continue to win in the playoffs I will add some paint and details to it. I will keep the city posted.

On Earth Day, I opened my BBQ grill to find the largest bird's nest I have ever seen! The momma bird flew out when I opened the grill lid, surprising me but I was so happy to see 5 little robin eggs sitting happily in the giant nest. Looks like we won't be grilling for the next month!

Approximately 50 St. Louis children are learning the importance of saving money thanks to Kingdom House, an organization in which 83 percent of its clients live below the poverty line of $22,300 per year for a family of four. Financial Representatives and staff from Northwestern Mutual – Clayton teach classes at the Kingdom House Academy where students learn the basics of financial planning, how to use a checkbook, debit and credit cards, as well as short-and long-term saving strategies. As a result, Northwestern Mutual, through its Foundation, is recognizing Northwestern Mutual - Clayton with its 2013 Community Impact Award. The annual regional award recognizes Northwestern Mutual offices that demonstrate exemplary service with a local nonprofit. In addition, the award secures a $50,000 grant for Kingdom House. For more than 10 years, the office has helped with various volunteer opportunities such as food drives, the annual golf tournament or teaching classes at the Kingdom House Academy. “Our office’s mission statement includes the phrase every life matters,” said Steve Gross, managing partner, Northwestern Mutual – Clayton. “Kingdom House shares that belief, which is a driving reason why our employees participate so wholeheartedly in its events.” The $50,000 grant will be used to expand financial literacy courses, as well as help create Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) for the students. With these accounts, students are encouraged to save money toward college. Kingdom House will match 50 percent of their savings. “Northwestern Mutual – Clayton has been a tremendous friend to Kingdom House for the past 10 years,” said Scott Walker, executive director, Kingdom House. “As a direct result of the office, thousands of youth in St. Louis have been nurtured and strengthened in their growth and development.” With the grant, Kingdom House Academy will expand its offerings to increase the amount of students served by the program from 25 to 50. “Poverty is a systemic problem in many communities across the United States, and we're enthused by the holistic approach that Northwestern Mutual – Clayton is taking with Kingdom House Academy,” said John Kordsmeier, president, Northwestern Mutual Foundation. “Their combination of volunteer hours and financial support of this important organization is not only resulting in a better quality of life for many, but it's an approach that can be replicated, regardless of the city.”
