CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KTVI) - The majestic Bald Eagles find a welcome home along the Mississippi River in Missouri and Illinois, but not so along our roadways.

A Bald Eagle was struck by a car on Route 61 south of Cape Girardeau.

Kevin Malone, a contractor from Freeburg, Illinois, was in Kelso, Missouri Monday to purchase a motorcycle. He went to the aid of a conservation agent who needed an extra hand to corral the injured bald eagle.

The Missouri Conservation agent took the eagle to a veterinary clinic in Cape Girardeau.  But the bird had to be euthanized due to its broken hip.
