Willie McGee Hired By Cardinals For Minor League

(KTVI) – The St. Louis Cardinals announced Wednesday they have hired Willie McGee as the special assistant to the general manager focusing on minor league teams.

McGee, 54, spent 14 years with the Cardinals from 1982-90 and 1996-99.

During his career, he compiled a .295 batting average with 79 home runs, 856 RBIs and 352 stolen bases in 2,201 games played.

He currently ranks in the Cardinals top 10 in games played, triples, stolen bases and pinch hits.

McGee first gained attention when he helped the Cardinals win the 1982 World Series.
