Owner Assaulted Trying To Get Stolen Truck Back

MAPLEWOOD, MO (KTVI)-- Maplewood police are looking for the man who took a pickup truck from the Maplewood Commons Shopping Center and assaulted the truck's owner.

They said the suspect hot wired the victim's truck outside shopping center.

"When the victim returned from shopping he saw the suspect driving away in the truck," Maplewood Police Det. Matt Nighbor said. "He jumped into the truck bed as the suspect was driving away."

Police said the suspect got on the highway and was traveling at a high rate of speed.

"The victim busted a window and that got the suspect to stop," Detective Nighbor said.

Then the suspect threw the victim out of the truck bed and started punching him.

Police are still looking for the suspect and the truck. It is a 1992 GMC Seirra with MO plates reading 1HN-375.

The suspect is described as a light skin African American Male in his early 20s. He is about 5'7" and weighs about 150 lbs.
