The Illini battled til the final seconds before losing to 2nd seeded Miami 63-59 in the NCAA’s third round.
The loss on Sunday night in Austin, Texas featured a controversial late call when a ball went out of bounds off a Miami player but the Hurricanes were still given possession. Illinois was trying to make the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2005. It was the final game for Senior’s Brandon Paul, DJ Richardson, and Tyler Griffey (Lafayette H.S. St.Louis). The Illini finish the season 23-13 in their first year under Head Coach John Groce.
