Motte Out with Elbow Injury

Cardinals closer Jason Motte will be shut down for the next week with pain in his right elbow, the club announced on Saturday morning. Motte has been diagnosed with a mild muscle flexor strain in his right (pitching) arm. Motte last pitched on Thursday against the Mets and complained of pain in his right elbow after the game. Cardinals General Manager John Mozeliak said Motte will likely being the 2013 regular season on the disable list. Mitchell Boggs will move in as the Cardinals closer in Motte’s absence.
