(KTVI)- Scattered showers and thunderstorms in Missouri and Illinois Tuesday morning brought heavy rain, lots of lightning, and pockets of small hail to the region. Most of the activity lifts to the north through the afternoon.

The thunderstorm risk will increase Tuesday night, especially across northern Missouri into west-central Illinois where severe storms are possible.

As a warm front lifts northward Wednesday, gusty south winds and warmer temperatures take over. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70°s.

Strong to severe storms are possible Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night. The main threats will be hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes.

The threat of dangerous storms will continue into Thursday.
