Lightning Strike Destroys Historic Log Cabin In Lincoln County

OLD MONROE, MO – the Old Monroe Fire Protection District was called to an 1860s historic log cabin fire in the 2100 block of Highway C in Lincoln County around 2:00am Tuesday.

Fire crews arrived on the scene during an early morning thunderstorm and found the log cabin fully involved.

Old Monroe Fire District Chief Blevins says lightning is likely the cause of the early morning blaze and the log cabin is a total loss. Winfield-Foley, Lincoln County & O’Fallon Fire Districts assisted in the early morning fire.

This structure was reported to be one of the oldest structures in Lincoln County, Missouri.
