Freese’s Grand Slam Lifts Cards to 7-6 Win

David Freese’s first inning Grand Slam keyed a five run inning and led the Cardinals to a 7-6 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night at Busch Stadium. It was the struggling Freese’s first home run of the season. The Cardinals built a 6-0 lead before the Brewers Aramis Ramirez hit two three run homers off Jaime Garcia. The Cardinals bullpen took over and shut down Milwaukee for the final three and two thirds innings. Garcia got the win despite allowing six runs in five and a third innings pitched. Edward Mujica pitched a scoreless ninth inning for notch his 12th save of the season. Garcia’s season record improved to 5-2.
