City Can’t Afford to Pay Metro East Workers

WASHINGTON PARK, IL (KTVI) – Employees of Washington Park say they were not paid on Friday. The village faces furloughs and layoffs as the city wrestles with a debt up to $7 million.

Monday, the city’s new mayor met with employees to deliver the news. The city needs $32,000 to meet the payroll twice a month.
