Police Identify Girl Found Dead In Columbia, Ill.

COLUMBIA, IL (KTVI)-- The Major Case Squad is investigating the death 17-year-old girl in Columbia, Illinois.

Police were called by family members to look for a missing person who was last seen at a home at 237 S. Riebeling in the old town section Columbia. When police arrived to the scene, they found a body inside the home.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning.

Based on the the crime scene, police believe this is a homicide investigation.

Police say there is more than one crime scene, both just a couple of blocks from each other.

No suspects are in custody. Police are not actively looking for a suspect but are questioning two people who are connected to the victim.

Police say the victim had a connection to the house.

There are at least 25 investigators working on the case.

A prayer service is scheduled for noon on Friday at Immaculate Conception Church on Quarry Rd. in Columbia for Erin Schnieder.
