The Blues didn’t have a first round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft. That pick was sent to Calgary as part of the Jay Bouwmeester trade. The Blues did some more wheeling and dealing to add some talent trading to acquire a second pick in the second round. The Blues took Thomas Vannelli with 47th overall pick in the 2nd round. Vannelli is an 18 year old defenseman from Minnetonka, MN who has also played for Team USA. With the 57th overall pick (acquired from Edmonton), the Blues drafted William Carrier. Carrier is an 18 year left wing from Quebec. In the 4th round the Blues selected St.Louis native Zach Pochiro, a forward.
And in the 6th round, the selection was defenseman Santeri Saari (173rd overall).
