Man Arrested For Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL. (KTVI) – At approximately 4:40 a.m. on June 27, 2013, the Fairview Heights Police Department began investigating a claim of criminal sexual abuse that had occurred previously that evening at Trailways Motel.
Police say the 15-year-old victim had reportedly been out of reach throughout the evening of June 27. With failed attempts of locating their daughter, the victim’s parents became worried. After the victim returned home at 1:00 a.m. on June 27, 2013, she admitted to being at Trailways Motel. The victim then revealed to her parents, and later to the police department, that she had engaged in sexual intercourse with a 20-year-old male who was staying at the hotel.
Officers were able to quickly identify the subject as Maurice Jackson, 20 years of age and a resident of Georgia. Once learning of the incident, the Fairview Heights Police Department investigated and confirmed that Jackson was currently staying at Trailways Motel, although he was not in his room at that time. Surveillance was maintained until Jackson returned to the hotel at 6:15 a.m. at which point he was taken into custody without incident.
Jackson has been charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a class 2 felony, and his bond was set at $75,000.
