Twenty-eight people were injured in an accident in Simi Valley, CA.   In the opening minutes of the show, some of the fireworks went sideways instead of straight up.  the rest of the fireworks exploded all at once.

People ran for cover as pieces of fireworks rained down on them.  Emergency crews rushed to the scene and set up a triage area.

Twenty people were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
