(KTVI) – Drivers in St. Louis are having a bit of sticker shock as gas prices continue to rise across the area. On Tuesday, the highest price for gas on the Missouri side of the river was $3.79 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
Prices were higher in Illinois. According to AAA’s Fuel Gauge report, the national average is about $3.61 per gallon, leaving St. Louis about 18 cents above the national average.
Gas prices hit a nation-wide summer low of $3.47 on July 7. In June of 2012, prices bottomed out at $3.33 a gallon.
AAA says the rising crude oil cost is pushing gas prices up nationally. Check the Weber Gas Tracker to find the lowest prices in your area.
