Metro East man jailed for allegedly assaulting two police officers

COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTVI) – An East St. Louis man is behind bars for allegedly assaulting an East St. Louis police lieutenant and an Illinois State Police sergeant.

Illinois State Police say Darryl D. Robinson, 24, hit the two officers with his vehicle at a murder scene.

The incident happened on July 5 when Robinson allegedly drove his vehicle into the secured crime scene area.  Authorities say when Lt. Marion Riddle and Sgt. Mark Doiron tried to remove Robinson from his car, he resisted and drove off, hitting the two officers with the side of the car.

Both officers suffered minor injuries. Robinson was arrested on July 15 in Centreville, IL.

He is charged with one count of Aggravated Battery, one count of Attempted Aggravated Battery and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon.

He is jailed on a $100,000 bail.
