(KTVI)-On the Jaco Report, Charles Jaco continues to go in depth on the school transfers affecting at least four area school districts. School starts in about four weeks and up to 12,000 students in the Normandy and Riverview Gardens school districts in north St. Louis County have been told they can transfer to any other school district in St. Louis County or any surrounding county. And the prospect of those mostly poor, mostly African-American kids from the two unaccredited districts going elsewhere has split the entire St. Louis community.
Students from the Normandy School District will have the option to transfer to St. Charles County’s Francis Howell District. Students from the Riverview Gardens district will have the option to transfer to the Mehlville School District. But are those far away districts being chosen to prevent transfers. And parents in some of those receiving districts are worried about violent kids who may transfer.
