NORTH ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-One man is dead after what may have been a rolling gun battle on Goodfellow led to a fatal crash.  The incident actually began at Goodfellow and Natural Bridge. St. Louis Police say the people in the car say they were being shot at, and trying to run from their assailants.  They made it to I-70 and that's where things took a fatal turn.

The driver lost control of the car and smashed into a light poll and guard rail where the overpass meets the on-ramp.  They hit with such force that one man in the car was thrown completely out and onto the interstate highway below.  He was pronounced dead here at the scene.  A second man was also critically injured in the crash, while a third was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Police tell us there was a gun found on the interstate next to the dead man's body, so they're trying to determine if the shooting was one sided, or if the men in the car were returning fire during the chase.

I-70 eastbound and all lanes at Goodfellow and Woodland, which runs adjacent to I-70, were closed early in the morning while police investigated the crash.
