(KTVI) – An Oregon woman tried for two years to get Equifax to correct major errors in her credit report.

Julie Miller found false information on her credit report when she was denied credit by several banks, according to UPI.com.

She says for years she tried to resolve the dispute with Equifax, but was unsuccessful.  Finally, in 2011, she sued the credit bureau saying it had damaged her reputation by not protecting her credit account.  Miller  awarded $18.6 million on Friday.

The judgment is the largest award to a consumer against one of the major credit bureaus.  It likely will be appealed.
