WELDON SPRING, MO (KTVI) – A man flashed a gun as he robbed a St. Charles County bank. Police say the armed robbery suspect fled on foot into a heavily wooded area behind the First National Bank in Weldon Spring. He staged a getaway car and managed to escape the area before the SWAT Team arrived on the scene. A getaway that police say, is all to familiar to them.

The situation at a First National Bank in Weldon Spring grew immediately dangerous.

“At approximately 10:16am a white male entered the First National Bank located at O’Fallon Road at Highway 94, immediately brandished a handgun, and immediately started making demands within the bank.” said Sgt. Steven McCarver of the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Dept.

After that, details of this armed robbery became more familiar to police.

“Certain things that he demanded were indicative or consistent with someone that has knowledge of bank operations. The bank tellers were cooperative. He did get away with an undisclosed amount of money.” said Sgt. Steven McCarver.

By air and on the ground, the St. Charles SWAT team and police searched a heavily wooded area and subdivision behind the bank for the suspect. But, police believe the suspect staged a getaway car in the area and managed his escape.

“The way he handled this bank robbery is consistent with a bank robbery that was on June 7th in the Creve Coeur area. I have a picture showing both individuals and we believe it to be the same individual. The scarf that he used to cover his face during the bank robbery is consistent with that of Creve Coeur, and it’s a red color plaid type scarf.” said Sgt. Steven McCarver.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’6″ to 5’7″, approximately 160 pounds wearing a teal blue Polo shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a blue ball cap.
