Boat Adrift: Officials release owner’s name, picture

HARTFORD, IL (KTVI) -The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is releasing the identity and photo of the person they believe owned a boat that was found adrift on the Mississippi River Friday morning.

Authorities say the boat belongs to Dennis J. McMenamy of Richmond Heights, however, official have stopped short of saying they believe McMenamy was on board and may have drowned.

This all started around 3:00 a.m. near the Chain of Rocks canal when a tow vessel noticed a fishing boat connected to another tow rig.

Fishing rods, coolers and other items on the boat were positioned as if someone had been on the boat.

Friends told FOX 2 the boat owner goes fishing often at night and called around 1:30 a.m. to say he had caught a large catfish.

He is described as a white male, 6-foot-1 inch tall, and 230 to 240 pounds.  He was probably wearing contacts but also wears glasses. Was probably wearing shorts and sandals.
